Program Manager (Hydrogen)

BCCK is seeking qualified candidates for the Program Manager (Hydrogen) position, which will be based in Midland or The Woodlands office. Job Title: Program Manager (Hydrogen) Supervisor: Director of Project Management Classification: Non-Exempt Salary Range: In accordance with experience General Purpose The Program Manager (Hydrogen) is responsible for all aspects of assigned projects and is expected to be able to manage the more challenging and larger scope projects within the company, including full EPC projects up to $100 MM in contract value. The Program Manager has good technical knowledge of hydrogen production and fuel cell systems and problem-solving skills. The Program Manager works directly with engineering and design, procurement, fabrication, quality, safety, project controls, document control, accounting, and· construction management groups. The PM is a primary point of contact with clients, vendors, contractors/sub-contractors, third party service providers, attorneys, and regulatory agencies. This position focuses on meeting the needs of the project and continuously tracking all phases of a project from inception through completion. The Program Manager is responsible for monitoring all aspects of her/his projects (safety, quality, schedule, spending, profitability, documentation, etc.) and is responsible for implementing corrective measures to address deviations from the plan. The Program Manager reports to and works under the general supervision of the Director of Project Management. The Program Manager may work in combination with a Project Manager I, assisting on her/his projects. This description is an outline and is not intended to list all duties and responsibilities. Create/follow timelines to ensure hydrogen project team project meets the program milestones Collaborate closely with Renewables Management, across departments (marketing, engineering, manufacturing, sales, supply chain, finance, etc.) and with suppliers Assist in the development and deployment of the Product Development process Support development and implementation of process disciplines Drive “Plan for every part” from the hydrogen production imitative Take personal responsibility for the Renewables team’s achievement by holding the team accountable, ensuring proper meeting cadence and elevating effectively when needed Train and coach the hydrogen production team to ensure compliance and track all deliverables using an open issues list Use risk management approach to anticipate and prevent problems from occurring, elevate risks to management when/if they occur Follow tooling sources to track progress and alleviate any issues that may affect timing Coordinate or conduct Project Gate Reviews Provide regular project status reports to senior management Job Requirements This position requires a broad range of skills and aptitudes, including the following: A thorough knowledge of the principles of effective project management, as described by organizations such as the Project Management Institute Familiarity with a wide variety of disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and process engineering, piping design, project controls, procurement, fabrication, construction, etc. Devotion to the highest standards of Safety and Quality Ability to understand and interpret for others documentation such as P&ID and one-line diagrams, data sheets, specifications, schedules, cost reports, contracts, etc. Proficiency in understanding and working with various contract types and forms of project execution A professional and positive demeanor, self-motivation, and skill in building positive relationships within the company and with clients Team building and leadership skills Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Maintain proficiency with analytical software (Excel) and project management tools (Deltek Vision, Primavera P6) Respond positively to the needs of clients, company management, and colleagues Communicate ideas for improvement to company management. Some negotiation skills as instructed by the Director of Project Management and/or the Chief Executive Officer Must be available, beyond normal working hours, to field verbal and emailed client questions and/or provide project support as necessary to maintain forward progress Perform other duties as assigned Excellent planning, collaboration, and facilitation skills to coordinate and leverage capabilities across a highly matrixed organization involving multiple products, channels & functions Data-driven problem-solving skills, with understanding of problem-solving tools and key performance indicators / metrics Ability to plan and manage complex projects crossing over many departmental lines Effective communication skills, written and oral, to all levels of the organization Strong organizational skills High Energy / Flexible / Adaptable / Dynamic / “can-do” attitude High comfort and confidence level while giving presentations to room of peers and/or stakeholders Ability to influence and thrive within a rapidly changing / growing matrix organization Ability to travel regionally and internationally ~ 10-20% Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline (PMP Certification is preferred) Minimum of five years’ experience in the hydrogen/fuel cell or similar industry Expert experience with Gantt charts, open item, and responsibility tracking Experience in at least one cross functional area (Quality, Engineering, Operations, or Project Management) Experience with hydrogen to power programs and hydrogen storage systems and components Work Environment This job operates primarily in a professional office environment with professional attire. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and electronic filing. The job also operates in a construction site setting as well as in fabrication shops where proper PPE is necessary. The ability to move between settings is vital for this role. Project site visits will be required. Site visits generally require traversing uneven terrain and the potential hazards of active construction areas. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with vendors, customers, and co-workers, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position is a full-time, exempt, 40+ hour per week employment. Overtime hours are often required depending on the phase of the project and project schedule and may include weekends and evening work. Travel Occasional day trips and some overnight travel to domestic and international destinations will be expected for this position.
