We are united by a common mission: to deliver services and technology that fundamentally change how skilled workers and the businesses they serve get hard work done.Job DescriptionThe Mud Engineer (Drilling Fluids Specialist) is responsible for managing and maintaining drilling fluid systems to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations. This role involves monitoring fluid properties, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The position works closely with drilling teams on location to provide technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain proper fluid performance throughout the drilling process.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain drilling fluid systems based on well conditions and drilling requirementsMonitor and test drilling fluid properties to ensure optimal performance and stabilityAdjust fluid composition to address changing downhole conditions and operational challengesProvide on-site technical support to drilling operations and communicate recommendations to the drilling teamTrack and report daily fluid usage, costs, and performance metricsTroubleshoot drilling fluid-related issues such as loss circulation, wellbore instability, or contaminationEnsure compliance with environmental regulations and proper handling/disposal of drilling fluidsMaintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, inventory tracking, and treatment logsCoordinate with vendors and supply teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and chemicalsSupport safe work practices and participate in safety meetings and site proceduresSkillsStrong understanding of drilling fluid systems and chemistryKnowledge of drilling operations, wellbore behavior, and formation interactionsAbility to analyze data and make real-time operational decisionsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills for working with field teams and stakeholdersAbility to work in fast-paced, high-pressure field environmentsStrong organizational and reporting skillsBasic proficiency in computer systems and reporting softwareQualificationsExperience working as a Mud Engineer, Drilling Fluids Engineer, or Mud HandKnowledge of land-based drilling operations and fluid systemsFamiliarity with different drilling environments and formationsAbility to work rotational schedules and extended hours on drilling locationsUnderstanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to drilling fluidsRelevant certifications or training in drilling fluids or wellsite operations preferredStrong commitment to safety, quality, and operational efficiencyJob DetailsPay: $950-$1100/ per dayLocation: Must be local to Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, ND
