Position Title: EHS Coordinator Organization: Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico (LTPR) Department: Compliance, Safety & Innovation (CSI) FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (hourly) EEOC Job Category (5) Administrative support workers Revision Date: June 27, 2024 Position’s Connections Position of the direct supervisor Head of Compliance, Safety & Innovation Positions of the direct subordinates None Description of the Position Provide technical support, including, data interpretation and development of corrective actions to the EHS function in areas such as JSA/SRA, Industrial Hygiene, Waste Management, Spill Containment, Storm Water, Chemical Management, and related areas. Assists EHS Specialist with duties that include, but not limited to data entry, analysis, and reports. Maintains a safety and healthy working environment for all employees and seeks to improve the environment in our local communities, while always promoting the highest levels of integrity, through a passion for EHS excellence, supported by common ownership and accountability; cost effective and proactive EHS programs; and community involvement. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and supports the health and safety of our employees and customers by providing accurate and accessible safety information. Essential Responsibilities Responsible for managing, reviewing, and maintaining documents for all environmental aspects such as chemicals and hazardous materials used within the organization. Execute and/or up-dates Safety Rick Analysis (SRA/JSA) for all site positions and support corrective actions processes. Maintains required safety documentation and logs. Perform and assists in the collection, analysis, reports on investigations of occurrences, near misses, accidents and incidents. Assists the coordination of annual medical checks. Assists in the implementation of EHS training. Assists in Employee Safety Committee/First Responder Team (meetings and plan execution). Assists EHS documentation and record keeping. Assists EHS Department in related community affairs. Conducts daily/weekly/monthly EHS inspections. Interacts with EHS suppliers, regulatory agencies, and Headquarters. Assists the coordination of Waste Management (Hazardous, Non Hazardous and Recycling). Assists in Industrial Hygiene and Medical Surveillance monitoring. Assists in the implementation of approved corrective actions derived from SRA/JSA. Compiles air emission data to ensure compliance with air regulations. Responsible for the Spill Containment Program. Keeps a record of storm water, spill prevention. Assists with the selection of the Initial PPE and implementation. Assist in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) reorganization and restructuring. Perform Safety Data Sheet Assessment. Develop and ensure fulfillment of all necessary local legal and other requirements. Advise and support all local departments regarding Safety Data Sheet new process. Collect and perform analyses on the current process on suggest new internal process. Organize and coordinate SDS facility measurements. Reassign new names for SDS’s available in the internal folders according to new Central standards. Train employees on the changes to the Safety Data Sheet Folder. Analyze data from SDSs to identify potential hazards and recommend safety measures. Generate regular reports on chemical inventory, usage, and safety compliance. Follows and actively participates in all the EHS practices and procedures Other Responsibilities Maintains working area clean and organized. Comply and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, local and federal regulations. Perform other tasks and projects, as requested. Ensure adherence to compliance culture requirements. Education, Skills and Competencies Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or relevant training in related field. Have minimum 6 months or more of experience with EHS. Detailed knowledge of the relevant EHS legislation and regulations. Good communication skills. Computer literate. Have demonstrated and proven ability to work on one’s own initiative and operating under time pressure demands. Good analytical skills. Have good interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills and have proven track record. Fluent in English (both written and spoken). Flexibility according to workload during the project phases. Ability to work independently. Ability to generate new ideas and identify potential for improvement within his working area. Working conditions Office environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax, scanner and filing cabinets. Could often work more than 40 hours per week, including on evenings and weekends. Also usually travel often for work. The workspace may range from a desk in an open layout cubicle or a private office. Being a international company, there will be a linguistic diversity. The temperature will be in a comfortable range.
