Database Administrator
Overview:
In this role you will lead the stewardship of critical data assets, ensuring availability, integrity, and performance within a complex AWS-hosted Oracle environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data models, implement robust backup and security controls, and drive modernization and cost-efficiency initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain complex DBMSes (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)Collaborate with developers/architects to optimize schemas and data models
- Document data standards and metadata definitions
- Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, tune queries and indexes
- Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor production databases and respond to issues
- Develop database utilities and automated reporting
- Coordinate with Change Control/Release Management for applications
- Plan upgrades and patching to keep systems secure
- Communicate database security and integrity to stakeholders
- Enforce security measures to prevent unauthorized access and data loss
- Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data initiatives
- Provide user support and training as needed
- Perform additional related tasks as required
- Key requirements7–12 years of experience as Senior Oracle DBA in complex environments
- Experience with AWS RDS and Oracle Multitenant
- Automation expertise with Ansible preferredMMIS domain experience
- Strong SQL and database security knowledge
- Experience with data backup, recovery, and DR planning
- Experience with health assessment reporting and vendor collaboration
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Enterprise and Microsoft SQL Serverstrong communication skillsleadership and mentoringcollaboration across cross-functional teams
