We are currently seeking a Mechanic II (Fleet) to join our dynamic Public Services Team. The ideal candidate will perform skilled work in the general and major repair of cars, trucks and other City equipment. Work is performed under general supervision. Duties & Responsibilities Performs mechanical and service work on all City vehicles, trucks and other equipment such as: front ends; four wheel brake job; tire replacement/repair; electrical repair; tune-ups; carburetors/Fl repairs, drives train repairs; performs diesel repair and service. Picks up and delivers vehicles to various vendors. Works schedule as determined by Department that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and before/after a declared emergency. Operates City vehicles and possesses a valid Florida Driver's license. Cross-trains to provides support in other areas of Public Services, as needed. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position. Qualifications What's required:(Minimum Requirements) High School Diploma or GED Minimum of three (3) years of full time professional experience in the repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, and/or heavy equipment Possession of a valid driver's license with an overall good driving record required Must be able to obtain a Class B, CDL, with air brake endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire What's preferred: (Desired Requirements) Five (5) years of experience in the vehicle repair industry with manufacturer or dealership experience Vocational/Technical education experience in automotive, construction, and specialized equipment repair Welding experience ASE certification in truck or automotive repair Active Class B CDL License
