The SHSU Workforce Ready Kats (Community Work-study) program is seeking work-study eligible students who want to develop a deeper commitment to and understanding of the local community. Students will learn about the challenges facing our community, develop career-ready skills, and contribute to the public good.
Workforce Ready Kat placements are OFF-CAMPUS, meaning you will work at a partner organization that works to improve the quality of life for community residents. This is not an on-campus job, so you will need a reliable form of transportation.
The SHSU Workforce Ready Kats (Community Work-study) Program has placements with:
Walker County
Boys & Girls Club of Walker County
SAAFE House
Good Shepherd Mission
Rise Counseling & Wellness
Faith Lutheran School
and more!
Other Requirements for the Position
The placement requires you to
Be a full-time, degree-seeking student and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
Be willing to work for the partner organization for at least one academic semester.
Work between 5-15 hours per week.
Have a reliable form of transportation to your off-campus placement site.
Participate in professional development opportunities.
Be reliable, professional, and willing to learn.
