Academic Acute Pain Anesthesiologist

Position Overview Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, University of California, Davis is recruiting for an Acute Pain Anesthesiology Assistant/Associate or Full Professor in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series. Responsibilities Manage acute perioperative pain across a broad range of surgical services at UC Davis Medical Center, focusing on procedure-specific multimodal analgesia. Participate in Acute Pain Service call schedule. Develop individualized pain plans and perform regional anesthesia techniques, including ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and neuraxial procedures. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize recovery, reduce opioid use, and improve patient outcomes. Provide clinical education for medical students, residents, and fellows. Perform teaching and service activities commensurate with academic rank, including potential attending faculty roles in operating room and intensive care settings. Engage in scholarly or creative activities supporting clinical teaching, professional and service activities (Health Sciences Clinical Professor series) or involvement in extramurally funded research program and publication list (Clinical X series). Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) MD/DO, ACGME-approved residency, experience in acute perioperative pain management and regional anesthesia or completion of ACGME-accredited Pain Medicine fellowship. ABA board certification or eligibility. Experience teaching medical students and/or residents and fellows. Additional qualifications (required at time of hire) California Medical License by date of hire. Preferred qualifications Ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
