Medical Secretary
Laurel Lake - This position is part time, 24 hrs. per week. Schedule TBD.SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The Medical Secretary is responsible for specific nursing clerical duties, organized into the following three categories: 1) communication; 2) record keeping; and 3) maintenance of environment.QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:High school education with clerical preparation courses (typing, computer)EXPERIENCE:Previous secretarial experience required in a healthcare setting.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, AOD, Lotus Notes, medical terminology and medical records knowledge. Good clerical skills, detail oriented, organized, personable, professional attitude and appearance with the ability to maintain confidentiality.PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:Responsible for the communication on nursing unit per the LPN/RN for resident care (schedule appointments as requested)Maintain consistent environment at nursing unit responding to the needs of nursing staff.File lab work, physician orders, x-ray reports, etc.Work in coordination with the Admissions Coordinator to ensure all medical documents are scanned in the EMR for all new admissions.Maintain clerical supplies and forms for nursing units.Responsible for American Health Associates platform (i.e. order lab requests, print lab schedules, check scheduled labs).Maintain current medical record documents and ensure all records are scanned into the EHR in a timely manner.Complete Medical Record Requests as needed.JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES – Other:Performs other related duties as needed.The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
