The position operates Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., with a 9-hour shift that includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch, not to exceed 40 hours per week.Position SummaryThe Telephone Medical Appointment Clerk/Consult Agent supports a high-volume healthcare call center. This role is responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient communications, and ensuring accurate and timely handling of medical consults in a professional and customer-focused environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAnswer inbound calls and assist patients with scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling appointmentsMake outbound calls to coordinate specialty referrals and primary care appointmentsVerify patient eligibility and update demographic information in appropriate systemsUtilize electronic health record systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS) to manage appointments and consultsProcess and track medical consults in accordance with established guidelinesManage appointment cancellation requests and voicemail inquiriesMaintain accurate records and ensure compliance with standard operating proceduresDeliver excellent customer service while adhering to medical and administrative protocolsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED (or higher)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Strong data entry and computer skillsMinimum typing speed of 35 words per minuteKnowledge of medical terminologyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multitask and coordinate across multiple departmentsStrong customer service skills and professional phone etiquetteAbility to read, write, and speak English fluentlyUS citizenship requiredPreferred QualificationsExperience in a healthcare or call center environmentFamiliarity with military health systems or electronic health recordsCertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)Salary And Benefits$19.61 an hourHealth, Dental, Vision, and other ancillary benefitsPTO and holidaysCome join our team!We encourage our Veterans and Military Spouses to apply and self-identify during the recruitment process.Please make sure your resume is accurate and updated when you apply for this job.
