Alarm Management Engineer

Location: Freeport, TexasSchedule: 4/10 ScheduleContract Duration: Initial 6-month assignment with potential extensions up to 1–2 yearsEmployment Type: Contract / Full-TimePosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Alarm Management Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert responsible for optimizing and managing alarm systems within a large-scale industrial process environment. This role will focus on improving operator effectiveness, process safety, and alarm system performance through implementation of ISA-18.2 alarm management principles and advanced Honeywell Experion functionality.The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion PKS systems in oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or other heavy industrial environments, along with deep knowledge of alarm rationalization, process control systems, and safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure, optimize, and maintain alarm settings within the Honeywell Experion platform to improve operator interface performance and system reliabilityImplement advanced alarm management features including alarm shelving, dynamic alarm suppression, and alarm tracking functionalityLead alarm rationalization initiatives in alignment with ISA-18.2 and API RP 1167 standardsIdentify and remediate nuisance and “bad actor” alarms using alarm performance analytics toolsGenerate and maintain weekly and monthly alarm performance reports and system health metricsCoordinate alarm strategies across integrated systems including:Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)PLCsSCADA systemsTank monitoring systemsSupport process safety and operational excellence initiatives through effective alarm management design and implementationCollaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve alarm system effectiveness and reduce alarm fatigueEnsure alarm system configuration aligns with process safety, regulatory, and operational requirementsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline5+ years of hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion PKS in an oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or industrial process environmentStrong experience with:Alarm rationalizationAlarm shelvingDynamic alarm suppressionAlarm performance analysisAdvanced understanding of:ISA-18.2IEC 61511API RP 1167Abnormal Situation Management (ASM) principlesExperience integrating alarm strategies across SCADA, PLC, and SIS architecturesStrong knowledge of industrial process equipment such as compressors, separators, and process control systemsExcellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Honeywell Alarm Manager, DynAMo, exida SILAlarm, TiPS LogMate, or similar alarm management toolsLNG facility experienceExperience supporting large-scale process operations or pipeline systemsFamiliarity with advanced regulatory control (ARC) strategiesCurrent and valid TWIC card preferredWhat Success Looks LikeSignificant reduction in nuisance and chattering alarmsImproved operator effectiveness and situational awarenessEnhanced compliance with alarm management and process safety standardsReliable, high-performing alarm systems that support safe and efficient plant operations*Please note that assignment durations, pay rates, and job duties are subject to our Client’s business needs and project requirements.*We may use artificial intelligence tools to help our recruiters screen and assess talent.
