Job Description POSITION: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECH MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma or equivalent * CPR Certification * Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all pertinent federal, state, and local laws, standards of the Ohio Department of Mental Health, and appropriate professional ethical standards * The position requires the ability to respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations, including at least basic training crisis intervention * Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements * Skills in crisis intervention and emergency services * The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing * De-escalation skills * The ability to establish and maintain clinically effective relationships with clients * Ability to meet agency requirements for criminal background check * Ability to function as part of an organization by working with others and by adhering to established policies and procedures * Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Observing Patients, closely monitoring patients, observing their behaviors and recording any new symptoms or signs of distress. * Monitor vital signs, monitor and record vital signs * Assisting with daily activities, daily tasks, such as eating, and taking medications. * Help clients participate in group counseling or group meetings * Provide emotional support to clients and reassure relatives * Alert medical professionals in case of emergencies * Assist medical providers to carry out treatment plans * Create supportive environments to clients * Maintains strict confidentiality and protects clients privacy. * Maintains appropriate documentation, including internal personnel records, operating reports and specific duties and analyses. * Responsible for being a role model to persons with substance/mental health use disorders. * Maintain/ complete and able to facilitate recovery related groups, teaching relaxation strategies, facilitating supportive interventions. * Provides mentor persons with a substance use disorder and others in the recovery process.
