Job Description: Thread Rolling Machine Operator (2nd Shift) Position: Thread Rolling Machine Operator Shift: 2nd Shift (Monday-Friday) Shift Hours: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Location: Commerce Pay Range: $28.50 - $34.37 per hour (based on experience, skillset, and interview evaluation) Company Overview: We are a leading organization specializing in precision metalwork, dedicated to maintaining exacting tolerances and producing high-quality components. As a Thread Rolling Machine Operator on our 2nd shift team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of threaded surfaces on metal workpieces. Job Summary: As a Thread Rolling Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating thread rolling machines to create threaded external surfaces on metal workpieces, meeting required tolerances as specified by blueprints and other documentation. Key Responsibilities: Set up thread rolling machines to complex levels, adjusting dies, roll depths, and other parameters to achieve tolerances of ± .0001. Utilize a range of support tools and equipment such as wrenches, pliers, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and computers for machine setup, maintenance, and repair. Load workpieces onto holding devices, verifying their proper positioning, and selecting appropriate parameters such as feed rate, rolling speed, depth, tooling, cams, and stops. Operate thread rolling machines for the completion of required operations, continuously monitoring work in progress to ensure equipment functionality. Maintain accurate counts, process documentation, and keep daily production logs using computer software applications or production worksheets. Study blueprints and other documentation to plan the sequence of operations required for machining. Collaborate as an active team member, participating in problem-solving, team building, and other activities to enhance production processes, productivity, and quality within the production cell. Qualifications: Education / Training: Proficiency in reading and writing English at the level required in company shop documents and computer software entry. Demonstrated mathematical skills including fractions, decimals, trigonometry, and geometry as relevant to cell machining operations. Generally equivalent to a high school graduate with trade school training in thread machine operations. Experience: 3-5 years of work experience or equivalent expertise in setting up and operating thread rolling machines, tools, and equipment similar to those used by the company. Proficiency in maintaining tolerances of ± .0005 and T.I.R. of ± .001 for threading. Ability to read precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers, as well as engineering diagrams related to machine tooling operations.
