General Description:
Responsible for supporting the development, life cycle sustainment, testing, integration, assembly and upgrade of Airborne EW systems and capabilities. This role works independently on moderately complex engineering technician tasks and collaborates with engineers on larger projects. Provides technical support for complex systems. Applies system, hardware and software knowledge, as applicable, to the design, development, sustainment and upgrade of new products and the redesign / modification of existing systems and components. Evaluates and recommends options and alternatives for EW systems. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for solving technical engineering problems including in the design development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance of electromagnetic systems and associated equipment.
Perform assembly, testing, alignment, and troubleshooting functions for various components and systems for repair, upgrade, or maintenance
Install, connect, remove, and/or fabricate complex electronic and/or mechanical assemblies as required to support engineering, production, test, and continual improvement
Set up, calibrate, operate, and/or maintain electronic and/or mechanical machines, production equipment, computers, prototype equipment, and other equipment
Assist in the layout and construction of complex electronic or mechanical assemblies
Develop detailed reports and summaries of inspections, assemblies, or events
Act as a facilitator and/or mentor to junior technicians in production and troubleshooting
Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues utilizing subject matter expertise, technical data packages, and work instructions
Make every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising quality
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with internal and external procedures, rules, and regulations
Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management
Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
Work Experience Requirements:
5-6 years of relevant experience. US Citizen, Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
Educational Requirements:
Technical School diploma
Working Conditions:
40 hours weekly. This work is typically performed in a laboratory, production, repair or manufacturing environment. May be exposed to hazards from equipment or hazardous materials (chemicals; i.e. Isopropyl alcohol). Work may require some physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes or equipment and light lifting less than 30 lbs. While performing duties of this job the employee may be exposed to a warehouse environment and should exercise suitable safety precautions. Essential Skills/Experience:
6+ Years engineering technician Experience
Communication proficiency; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both a verbal and written format, including proficient use of computer-based communication software
Keen attention to detail and accuracy
Collaboration skills; Ability to work in a team environment
Expert Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in performing advanced electronic or mechanical testing including set up, calibration, operation, and/or maintenance of electronic and/or mechanical machines, production equipment, computers, prototype equipment, and other test equipment
Advanced problem-solving skill/experience
Ability to work well under deadlines and effectively Lead a wide range of personnel
Practical application of general hand tools and electronic engineering fundamentals
Ability to mentor and train others in essential job functions, company processes, and policies
Beneficial Skills/Experience:
Experience with government programs and defense systems
Experienced in continuous improvement methodology and practices including TQM, LEAN, and Six Sigma
