ASCP Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)Valley, WA $3,929 - $6,709 a yearFull TimeJob Summary: The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment across healthcare facilities in the Pacific Northwest region. This position requires adherence to infection control and safety protocols throughout all stages of the sterilization process.Key Responsibilities:Operate sterilization equipment including steam and low-temperature methods, following established safety and quality standards such as those from The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN.Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, biological tests, and load documentation.Inspect instruments for damage or malfunction and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements.Support asset management of surgical instruments and trays, ensuring availability and readiness for surgical teams.Adhere to infection control practices, including proper handling and disposal of infectious waste, and use of personal protective equipment.Collaborate with operating room staff to ensure timely instrument availability and support departmental goals.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required.Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program or equivalent on-the-job training/experience.Minimum of one year of sterile processing experience in a hospital or similar healthcare setting.Certification such as CRCST, CSPDT, or CBSPD is preferred.Experience working independently or within small teams is advantageous.Professional Requirements:Maintain compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in completing assigned duties.Exhibit courteous and respectful communication with patients, guests, and colleagues.This role offers a supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth, continuing education, and skill development.
