SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

The primary purpose of this position is: to provide command-wide direction; procedural guidance and management of AETC managed weapons systems for 13 AETC bases and 22,000 personnel worldwide. Responsibilities Serves as the operational command lead for logistical support issues and is responsible for management and administration of assigned weapons systems. Provides technical assistance and logistical support guidance to subordinate units. Provides command management direction relative to general supply support to all AETC and tenant units. Initiates/implements necessary policies and procedures required for all AETC activities to ensure proper discipline and control of spares requirements AETC-wide. Uses personal computer with multiple office automation software and varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases, presentations, or spreadsheets or word-processing documents. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Supply Program Management Series, 2003. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes extensive knowledge and thorough understanding of logistics management concepts and supply procedures/automated data systems. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Extensive knowledge and thorough understanding of logistics management concepts and supply procedures/automated data systems. Expert knowledge of supply programs in the specific area of weapons system management, SBSS, WSMIS, WINMASS, D043, and Federal Logistics Data (FedLog). Ability to chair large teaming efforts, conferences and meetings with other MAJCOMs, Air Staff and effectively brief senior leadership, to include General Officers. Ability to effectively facilitate, arbitrate and negotiate Skill in tact and diplomacy. Skill in oral and written communications. Knowledge of automated data processing equipment and computer requirements. Ability to plan, organize and independently meet deadlines. Ability to successfully complete projects when constant change in technology and reengineering initiatives create a need for training and guidance of subordinates. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
