Imaging Technologist I - Mammography

DescriptionBecome part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 diverse employees, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the unique communities we serve.Summary:Using radiological (X-ray) imaging equipment and standards, the Imaging Technologist - Mammography prepares and performs procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data under close to moderate supervision. By interviewing and preparing patients with in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drives optimal care outcomes.Responsibilities:*Prepares and performs radiological (X-ray) imaging of the breast (mammography).*Reads and comprehends imaging order, engaging with physician when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review. Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using knowledge of human anatomy.*Interviews patients to understand risk factors that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety.*Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calms patient for effective imaging.*Uploads imaging results into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Records information into Electronic Medical Recordkeeping (EMR) system.PARDEEOther information:QUALIFICATIONS Required Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science One (1) year of experience working in a clinical imaging role Good understanding of human anatomy - can be established through education or experience Experience reading and interpreting radiology orders Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Preferred Experience performing stereotactic guided breast biopsies and/or contrast enhanced mammography Advanced certification in Mammography (ARRT-M) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Experience working with EPIC EMR 01.7290.8528Job DetailsLegal Employer: Pardee - HCHCEntity: Pardee UNC Health CareOrganization Unit: Mammography Work Type: Per DiemStandard Hours Per Week: 8.00Work Assignment Type: OnsiteWork Schedule: Day JobLocation of Job: PARDEECANCRExempt From Overtime: Exempt: No
