This role will play a key part in a strategic modernization effort to retire a vendor surveillance platform and consolidate its functionality into an enterprise supervisory platform used across multiple lines of business.The ideal candidate will have strong backend Python development experience within financial services environments, preferably supporting fixed income, risk, pricing, surveillance, or regulatory applications. This position requires close collaboration with business users, compliance teams, and technology stakeholders to build scalable alerting and monitoring solutions supporting critical regulatory and operational workflows.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and enhance backend services and APIs using PythonBuild scalable RESTful services supporting supervisory surveillance and monitoring platformsWork on enterprise alerting and operational excellence initiatives across Global Markets businessesIntegrate and modernize functionality from legacy vendor surveillance systems into internal strategic platformsDevelop solutions supporting audit remediation, regulatory reporting, operational monitoring, and compliance workflowsPartner with traders, compliance officers, risk teams, and business users to analyze alerts and implement supervisory controlsSupport high-volume event processing, alert generation, and investigation workflowsParticipate in production support, issue resolution, and operational stability initiativesCollaborate with frontend and full-stack teams to deliver integrated surveillance and monitoring capabilitiesRequired Skills & QualificationsStrong Python development experience in enterprise environmentsExperience developing REST APIs and backend distributed servicesStrong backend engineering expertise with object-oriented programming principlesExperience working with relational databases and object databasesExperience within financial services, capital markets, or global markets environmentsUnderstanding of surveillance, compliance, risk, pricing, or fixed income platformsExperience supporting large-scale enterprise applications and critical production systemsAbility to work directly with business users, compliance stakeholders, and operational teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience with fixed income trading systems, pricing engines, or risk platformsExposure to supervisory surveillance or regulatory monitoring systemsKnowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging systemsExperience handling audit remediation or regulatory initiativesFamiliarity with operational excellence programs and platform modernization effortsFrontend or full-stack exposure is a plusExperience working in Agile/Scrum environmentsNice to HaveExposure to cloud platforms and distributed systemsExperience with monitoring, alerting, and observability toolsKnowledge of compliance workflows and trade surveillance processesPrior experience supporting high-profile, business-critical financial applications   About Matlen Silver Experience Matters.
