Assistant Operations Manager

ResponsibilitiesManaging, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, all day-to-day aspects of a fast-paced, high sku wholesale processing and distribution operation, including (but not limited to) the following functional areas: shipping, receiving, grading and processing and inventory managementManaging the strict adherence to all applicable operational, health and safety, inventory control, security, and HR-related SOPs in a consistent, fair, and cost-effective mannerConsistently meeting or exceeding all operational and customer service related KPI targets Identifying opportunities for ongoing process improvements, equipment upgrades, additional training opportunities, staffing changes, and/or workplace health and safety improvementsDelegating tasks as needed while understanding that the accountability for the performance of such tasks remains with this position Supervise staff of 15-25 to efficiently complete daily, weekly, and monthly objectives in a manner that builds upon our best-in-class service for our wide array of vendors and customersMay assist in hiring, onboarding, performance reviews and disciplinary processes, upon request by Operations and / or HR ManagerUpdating all relevant SOPs and training materials on an ongoing basisPreparation of all required daily/weekly/monthly reports All other tasks as assigned by management QualificationsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations Management, or a related field of study; advanced training or certifications highly desirableMinimum three (3) years of operations management experience in a warehouse, pick/pack/ship, or 3PL environmentMinimum one (1) year of experience in a management or lead roleOccasional travel to the company’s Syracuse, NY location, vendor meetings, off-site training meetings, trade shows, or other business-related functions may be required Excellent time management skills Experience working with/managing package delivery vendors and service providers (UPS, FedEx, USPS)Working knowledge of carrier (UPS) or other third-party automated shipping software systemExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsHands-on, “roll up your sleeves” mindset when it comes to leading by example and helping meet daily customer requirements efficiently and with a high level of accuracyAbility to think on one’s feet and adjust schedules and workflows to adapt to daily changes in demand Strong written and oral communication skillsProficient in MS Office and Google Suite toolsHands-on ERP experience is a plus, NetSuite highly desirableStrong working knowledge of OSHA and other related workplace safety requirements Total Rewards PackageCompetitive compensation based on experienceAnnual performance bonus opportunity based on meeting/exceeding project management metrics and KPIsUp to 6% company match on 401(k)Employer-paid profit-sharing and cash balance plansComprehensive medical, dental, vision, and Employee Assistance plansHSA and FSA plans (pre-tax benefit)Company paid STD, LTD, Life, and AD&DSupplemental coverage available, including Critical Illness, Accident, Hospitalization, and PetPTO and paid holidaysEmployee discountsExtensive on-the-job training and opportunities for advancement
