Senior Environmental Engineer / Project Manager
DescriptionYour role at GEI. GEI’s Boston area offices (Wakefield MA, Franklin, MA, Newport RI, and Bedford NH) are seeking a civil/environmental engineer with project management experience to join our remediation practice. This is an opportunity to grow a practice in a nationwide, highly supportive organization that takes a long-term view of the marketplace. The successful candidate will implement, manage and support soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects, develop remedial designs, assess remedial alternatives, perform remedy implementation and monitoring, design and implement pilot tests, and prepare and review reports.Essential Responsibilities & DutiesManage projects and tasks that support the investigation and remediation of environmental conditions with a strong focus on subsurface investigations.Coordinate and implement environmental field work including the use of innovative characterization methods.Design and oversee the construction of remediation systems and evaluate and optimize existing remediation systems.Prepare project correspondence, data reports, and work plans for internal and client review.Prepare engineering drawings, specifications and scopes of work for construction.Mentor and train junior engineering staff.Work with engineering staff located throughout GEI's nationwide offices.Support the development of new and existing clients and markets while cross-selling GEI’s other core business areas (e.g., permitting, water resources, ecological services, and engineering).Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact.Participate in client-based professional organizations and present at industry events. Minimum QualificationsB.S. in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering; Masters preferred. Knowledge and experience in hydrogeology, contaminant fate and transport, and in-situ remediation is a plus.10+ years of previous professional experience in environmental consulting, including project and task management, preparation of regulatory report submittals, and development of remedial specifications and designs. Knowledge of MA MCP environmental regulations. Professional Engineer (PE) required; Licensed Site Professional (LSP) license a plus. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
