Human Resources Manager - Direct Hire

We’re partnering with a long-standing manufacturing facility in Richmond, IN to hire a Human Resources Manager who can operate confidently in a 24/7 union manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who can be firm, decisive, and direct, while still building strong relationships on the plant floor and with union leadership. You’ll serve as the primary HR leader for a unionized workforce and partner closely with plant leadership to drive engagement, compliance, and operational success. What You’ll Be Doing Lead all employee relations activities for a unionized manufacturing site Administer and interpret the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) Handle investigations, grievances, discipline, and arbitration support Coach plant leadership through complex employee relations issues Drive hourly staffing, onboarding, and retention initiatives Ensure compliance with EEOC, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, and labor regulations Partner with EH&S on safety initiatives Lead HR processes including compensation planning, open enrollment, and succession planning Support or participate in union contract negotiations What We’re Looking For 5+ years of HR experience (manufacturing required) Union experience is mandatory (UAW or similar preferred) Strong knowledge of labor and employment law Proven ability to handle high-stakes employee relations issues Comfortable being direct, calling out issues, and holding the line — while still earning trust Experience coaching supervisors and plant leadership Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience) Why This Role High-impact HR leadership role with real autonomy Stable manufacturing operation with a long history Opportunity to influence culture, engagement, and labor strategy Full benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO) Relocation support available for the right candidate If you’re an HR leader who can balance toughness with relationship-building and thrive in a union manufacturing environment, this is a strong next step.
