ARLINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLSArlington, MA 02476JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION: Occupational Therapist-Long Term Sub (Bishop Elementary School)Job Goal: The Occupational Therapist will provide services to individual and small groups of students, as well as whole class instruction. This is a long term substitute position (Mid-May - June 25, 2026)QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferredMassachusetts Licensure as Occupational TherapistCurrent in Evaluation and Service Standards in the field of Occupational TherapyPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluation and/or delivery of services to students both within the Arlington Public School buildings and at outside programs and residences where Arlington children receive the service as indicated by a request for evaluation and subsequent service delivery needs.Services to students include individual and small group therapy focused on fine motor and sensory integration.Prepare reports following evaluation of students.Prepare progress reports following treatment of students.Attend IEP meetings and prepare goals and objectivesAttend parent conferencesOther related duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Special Education Director or Coordinator.This is from MAOT (MA OT organization)Assessment of factors that contribute to participation within the school environment, including the student's performance of tasks (or ability to perform tasks), the activity demands, and the environmental contextCollaboration and communication with other members of the student's educational team including the familyCollaborative participation in team meetings relevant to supporting the student with identified special needs within the school or community environment (IEP or 504 Plan). This includes participation in the decision making process for determination of educational need, options for service delivery, and for termination of services.Collaboration with the educational team, including the family, to develop educationally relevant, measurable, and observable goals and objectivesPlanning and implementing occupational therapy intervention programs that meet the specific goals and objectives as stated in the IEPProvision of training to members of the student's educational team for implementation and/or carryover of student programsPlanning and implementing accommodations as outlined in the IEP or 504 PlanDocumentation, including instructional support/pre-referral and referral activities, evaluation reports, intervention notes, progress notes, consultation notes, and summaries for IEP meetingsParticipation in the decision-making process and implementation for use of assistive technologyParticipation in the routine management of the occupational therapy program and materialsSupervision of certified occupational therapy assistantsSupervision of OT or OTA fieldwork studentsThe Arlington Public Schools are committed to creating an inclusive and safe learning and working environment that reflects a diversity of perspectives, values, and experiences.
