Traveling Project Engineer - Mechanical Construction (HVAC / MEP)

Job Description Location: Based in Farmington Hills, MI (Travel Required 75–100% across the Midwest & the East Coast)About the RoleWe are seeking a Traveling Project Engineer to support large-scale mechanical construction projects across the Midwest and East Coast. This role is ideal for early-career construction professionals (or recent graduates) looking to build hands-on experience in HVAC/MEP systems, project controls, and field coordination within a stable, family-owned mechanical contractor.You will begin with onboarding and training in Farmington Hills, MI, before being assigned to active project sites across multiple states, including Ohio and East Coast locations. Travel may last several weeks to months at a time, depending on project needs.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Project Managers on large mechanical (HVAC/MEP) construction projectsManage and track submittals, RFIs, and project documentationMaintain project logs, reports, and compliance documentationAssist with scheduling, coordination, and project progress trackingCoordinate communication between field teams, subcontractors, and office staffUse Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for project managementSupport closeout documentation and general project controls processesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree (or in progress) in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field1–3 years of construction experience OR relevant internship experience in:Mechanical / HVAC constructionMEP contractor environmentsGeneral Contractor field engineering roles with a mechanical scopeHands-on exposure to project documentation (RFIs, submittals, logs, reporting)Familiarity with Excel, Word, and OutlookAbility and willingness to travel 75–100% for extended project assignmentsPreferred ExperienceInternship or work experience with a Mechanical Contractor or General ContractorExposure to HVAC installation, piping, plumbing, or MEP systemsExperience with Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)Exposure to multi-site or multi-state project environmentsWhat We OfferSalary up to $80,000 annually$150 daily travel stipend for expensesGas card and/or mileage reimbursement$1,000/month healthcare stipendPaid Time Off: 2 weeks + 5 sick days + company-paid shutdown periods (Winter Holidays, Labor Day Weekend)Long-term career growth within a stable, expanding mechanical contractorWhy Join UsThis is a strong opportunity to build real project experience in mechanical construction while working with a company known for long-term stability, repeat clients, and internal career development.
