Material Management Leader
JOB SUMMARY:Material Management Leader (Material Status & Coordination):• Main responsibility is to act as the single point of contact with project teams for purchased material status• Engage with follow-up/expediting coordinators to obtain material status by supplier and resolve any material related issues and/or expediting needs• Support timeline development for purchasing related activities ensuring adequate lead time for purchased material• Responsible for updating purchasing activities on timelines and reporting out purchasing material status for weekly project timing review meetings• Frequently attend customer meetings and whiteboards on site (Metro Detroit) to provide purchased material status updates• Support project teams with financial forecasting in SAP for purchased material• Identify financial risks & opportunities in regard to purchased materials• Intimate involvement in high impact purchasing (recovery plans, cost recovery, large purchases, high risk purchases)• Work with site teams to develop material support plans• Lead any critical supplier material issues identified by site• Support and attend monthly project reviews to communicate purchased material status and any related issues to project teams and regional/global leadership.Basic Requirements:• Minimum of 5-7 years of purchasing and/or material management experience within the automotive industry• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Strong problem-solving capabilities• Ability to work within a team-based environment• Ability to execute to a plan• Committed and dedicated to the success of a program• Strong working knowledge of local automotive supply base• Fair working knowledge of global automotive supply base• Extensive working knowledge on multiple commodities within the automotive industry (specifically Body in White (BIW) manufacturing)• Fair financial management skills• Clear understanding of project timelines• Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Power Point) - Advanced Excel skills required• SAP Experience• Working knowledge of project-based organizations• Strong collaborative skills with suppliers and internal team members• Appetite for accountability• Experience with Body in White (BIW) manufacturing• Understanding of budgeting and forecasting (financially on the project and with the supply base)• Ability to multitaskPreferred Requirements:• Minimum of 5-7 years of purchasing and/or material management experience at Non-Production Based Automotive Companies (preferably Body in White (BIW) Tier 1 Suppliers)• Project Management Experience
