Our work is mission-critical, supporting the U.S. Navy and strengthening national security.A Materials Expediter is a vital component within the supply chain and logistics sectors, tasked with ensuring the seamless flow of materials and components required for production and operational processes. This role is critical in industries where timely procurement and distribution directly impact the efficiency, schedule adherence and profitability of the business. In this newly formed role, you will work to ensure timely delivery of purchased material by coordinating with suppliers, tracking purchase orders, resolving delays, and liaising between procurement, production, engineering, program office and various organizations to remove roadblocks in the supply base.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, material availability teams and other internal teams to resolve any issues related to material shortages or delaysWork closely with suppliers to manage lead times, quality issues and delivery performanceAct as a liaison between suppliers, purchasing, warehouse staff, and production teams to coordinate deliveries and material movement.Collaborate with production, engineering and logistics teams to align material deliveries with project schedules and specificationsContact vendors, verify supplies and communicate with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates and inform Project Managers of potential delays.Follow-up with suppliers to determine schedule restoration plans and corrective actions to ensure delivery performance, and/or monitor activities during the product manufacturing/shipmentIdentify and resolve issues related to material shortages, delays, damaged goods, or incorrect orders at the suppliersTravel to suppliers on a regular basisThis position is currently based out of our facility in East Greenwich RI.
