Early Childhood Special Education Program Teacher Assistant

Qualifications/Description:Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent;Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act-Associate's Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading, and a 3 or better in writing on the Work Keys test.Consistent and reliable attendanceAbility to be responsible for all student self-care including mobility in a wheelchair;Ability to physically attend to student needs, including personal care, diapering and/or toileting, transfers to and from wheelchair, tube feeding, medication administration (oral, rectal and through gastric tube), augmentative communication, assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;Ability to lift 50 poundsAbility and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus unloading, and lunchroom supervision, as necessary;Basic computer skills preferred;Ukeru and/or CPI trained preferred;Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes;Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members;Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner;Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization;Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;Hard Working and team player.
