Empty Container Handler Operator

*West Memphis, Arkansas | Full-Time, On-Site | $24-$32 per Hour* Tri-State Container Solutions is hiring a dependable, safety-focused operator for its West Memphis container yard. The primary machine is a 2016 Hyster H18XM-12EC empty-container handler equipped with an ELME vertical-twist-lock spreader. This is specialized heavy-equipment work involving the safe lifting, stacking, staging, loading, and unloading of empty shipping containers. This is not a standard warehouse forklift position. Previous empty-container handler, top-pick, reach-stacker, or similar intermodal-equipment experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with substantial heavy-forklift or comparable heavy-equipment experience will also be considered and trained. Primary Responsibilities Safely operate the Hyster empty-container handler to move, stack, stage, load, and unload containers within the machine's rated capacity and company procedures. Load and unload Tri-State delivery equipment, customer trucks, and incoming or outbound carrier equipment accurately and efficiently. Inspect the handler before and after each shift, document concerns, and report mechanical or safety issues immediately. Confirm twist-lock engagement, container condition, stack placement, travel paths, ground conditions, and clearance before every lift or move. Coordinate clearly with drivers, yard personnel, customers, and management using agreed hand signals and communication procedures. Help maintain accurate inventory locations and keep the yard organized so specific containers can be located and accessed quickly. Perform basic daily care such as fueling, checking fluids, cleaning the cab and equipment, and supporting preventive-maintenance routines. Assist with reasonable yard duties when machine work is not required and help maintain a clean, professional, and safe facility. *Required Qualifications* Demonstrated experience safely operating heavy material-handling equipment, large forklifts, or comparable industrial equipment. Empty-container handler, top-pick, reach-stacker, or intermodal-yard experience is preferred. Ability to judge clearances and ground conditions, follow load-capacity restrictions, and work calmly around trucks, containers, and other personnel. Strong attendance, dependability, communication, and willingness to follow safety procedures every time. Ability to work outdoors in changing weather and complete required equipment training and operator evaluation. Schedule, Pay, and Benefits This is a full-time, on-site position based at the West Memphis yard. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays and overtime as business volume requires. Pay is $28-$36 per hour based on directly relevant experience. Candidates with proven empty-container handler experience should expect consideration toward the upper end of the range. Company pays 50% of the employee-only health insurance premium; family coverage may be added at the employee's cost. Six paid company holidays. After each six months of service: three paid vacation days and one paid personal day.
