Job DescriptionJob Title: Environmental Services TechnicianDepartment: Environmental ServicesFLSA Classification: Non-Exempt - Eligible for OvertimeEmployment Status: Full-TimeLocation: Harrison County Community Hospital (HCCH)Reports to: Environmental Services ManagerJob Summary/ObjectiveThe Environmental Services Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining hospital facilities in aclean, sanitary, and orderly condition, directly impacting patient care and staff safety. This positionrequires dedication, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic to ensure a safe and suitableenvironment for all. Responsibilities include a variety of housekeeping and laundry duties such asdusting, disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, washing and folding laundry, and handlingrefuse. This position may also assist in arranging furniture and other related tasks.Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities Clean and disinfect hospital furniture, fixtures, and equipment to ensure a sanitaryenvironment, crucial for patient health and safety. Perform floor care, including sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing, to ensure a clean andsafe walking environment. Collect, transport, and dispose of waste and recycling materials appropriately, contributingto a hygienic and organized facility. Dust and polish surfaces to maintain cleanliness and appearance. Rearrange and move furniture or equipment as needed for cleaning or facility needs. Perform laundry tasks, including washing, drying, folding, and inspecting articles for quality. Handle and store cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines. Replenish cleaning supplies and report inventory needs to the supervisor. Adhere to infection control standards and hospital policies during all cleaning and sanitizingtasks, playing a vital role in preventing the spread of infections. Assist with special cleaning projects or assignments as directed by the supervisor. Other duties as assigned.Skills / Abilities Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and materials. Familiarity with safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift and move objects, and operate cleaningequipment. Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff and patientsrespectfully.EducationEducation, Certificates, and License: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.Experience Prior housekeeping or laundry experience in healthcare preferred.Physical Requirements Lifting: Frequently lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. Mobility: Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shifts. Posture: Regular use of equipment such as mops, brooms, and vacuum cleaners.
