Office: Austin, Texas (in person) Status: Full-time, Exempt Position Summary Evergen Equity is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our real estate investment firm and Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and commercial real estate. The position offers an opportunity to be a leader in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing company with exposure to various aspects of real estate investments and private equity structures. The ideal candidate will have Yardi Real Estate software experience, an entrepreneurial attitude, strong ability to work in cross-functional teams, and a desire for learning and long-term growth.  Organizational Structure and Reporting As Controller, you will manage the financial operations and reporting for our Operating Company and for our direct and partner real estate investments. This role will report directly to the CFO and perform integral functions on a small team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities ●      General Ledger Management and Closing Process: Manage general ledger accounting and oversee closing process on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.  ●      Financial Management and Reporting: Review, oversee preparation of, and analyze financial statements to ensure accurate and timely reporting to external partners and management team in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. ●      Cash and Treasury Management: Manage cash requirements of multiple bank and investment accounts, including capital calls and distributions across multiple entities. ●      Acquisitions and Dispositions: Manage accounting for real estate acquisitions and dispositions, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, purchase price allocations, and closing costs. Oversee financial integration of new assets and proper derecognition of sold assets, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. ●      Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee preparation and monitoring of budgets, financial forecasts, variance analysis, and cash flow projections in collaboration with asset managers, investment teams, and external parties. ●      Entity Setup: Assist in the new entity setup process, including formations, legal structure, chart of accounts, tax strategy, and banking. ●      Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices. Supervise the accounts receivable function, including rent collections and partner capital contributions.   ●      Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with external tax advisors, creditors, and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with regulations and reporting requirements. Review supporting schedules and documentation to support external tax advisors in the preparation of partnership tax returns and coordinate investor tax reporting. ●      Systems and Processes: Continuously evaluate and enhance accounting processes, systems, software, and controls to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and maintain data integrity. Lead research and execute best practices and accounting department initiatives such as software implementation or new process and procedure. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ●      Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ●      CPA designation preferred.●      Significant experience (7+ years) in accounting and financial analysis.●      Real estate and/or private equity accounting experience is ideal.●      Public accounting experience a plus.●      Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.●      Interpretation and understanding of legal ownership structures.●      Critical thinking skills and attention to detail.●      Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.●      Proficiency in Yardi and other real estate accounting software.●      Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications. Additional Benefits and Requirements ●      Medical benefits●      Unlimited paid time off●      Right-to-invest eligibility after one year anniversary●      Professional development assistance●      Paid downtown Austin parking●      In office Monday-Friday requirement About Evergen Equity Evergen Equity is a multiple family office focused on making generational private real estate investments.
