Shop Foreman
Performs the duties of an A-level mechanic, including preventive maintenance and preparation of buses for DOT inspections. Directly supervises mechanics, service employees, and other maintenance personnel while monitoring outside contract laborers. Schedules repairs and maintenance for a wide variety of LNG and diesel‑powered equipment. Ensures an environment that meets safety and regulatory requirements and monitors all daily contractual maintenance obligations.
Compensation
Competitive compensation package: minimum $43.75 – maximum $48.80 per hour

Key Responsibilities
Perform the duties of an A-level mechanic, including preventive maintenance and preparing buses for DOT inspections.
Supervise mechanics, investigate issues, and make and administer decisions regarding employee discipline.
Evaluate the performance of new and current employees.
Facilitate and schedule training for new and current employees.
Participate in interview panels for maintenance positions with Human Resources.
Monitor the budget at a sectional level.
Assist with scheduling outside contract labor for special projects and monitor laborers’ performance.
Conduct daily safety/shift turnover meetings with mechanics and supervisors.
Work with facility maintenance to communicate safety and environmental issues.
Schedule major and minor repairs, create and review work orders, and close current work orders.
Assign work to mechanics based on required tasks and qualifications.
Make on‑the‑spot decisions regarding repairs and perform them when necessary.
Communicate diagnosis and repair procedures to mechanics and provide technical assistance.
Monitor tracking sheets generated by management to ensure prompt completion of repairs.
Inspect the work of internal employees and vendors for quality and quantity.
Work with Parts personnel to obtain correct replacement parts.
Decide which coaches to pull or swap out and relay information to operations at least eight hours before.
List and schedule coaches for PMI’s and other work, communicating with operations as needed.
Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as required.

Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
7+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy‑duty automotive and transit equipment.
3+ years of supervisory experience.
Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy‑duty transportation vehicles.
Familiarity with laws and regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as required.

Physical Requirements
Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions. 100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations.
Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on sloped or uneven surfaces.
Push and pull objects up to 75 pounds; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to retrieve equipment from ground level.
Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing job duties and tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
