Job Summary: The Family Resource Center (FRC) Coordinator supports families and the community with a variety of needs by providing parenting education, counseling, support groups, home visiting, lending libraries, childcare coordination, positive youth development, adult education, and resource and referral; supervising direct service staff, performing grant requirements, managing fiscal and programmatic functions, completing all required reports, and designing and evaluating programs in relation to the grant. To support a family’s optimal health and development, the FRC covers topics including: child development and behavior, safety and health, education and literacy, family social supports, family stability and economic supports, and positive parenting practices. The FRC Coordinator actively promotes the Family Resource Center and coordinates a comprehensive program of services designed to eliminate barriers. Hours: M-F, 40 hours, occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. Education and Experience: Must be bilingual in Spanish · Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work. · Coursework or experience in areas relevant to family support and social services. · Experience in social work, particularly in a community-based or family support setting. · Experience in coordinating programs to support parent involvement with clients in all socioeconomic status groups. · Strong written and oral communication skills, fiscal management and organizational skills. · Must have prior experience working with families providing health education programs and community health referral services that demonstrates a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. · Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English. · Requires Food Handlers card within 30 days of start of position. · Must have a car to effectively complete workload. · Must obtain Food Handlers card within 30 days of start of position. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: · Must demonstrate the ability to implement and assess the effectiveness of family education programs and/or provide eligibility and enrollment assistance. · Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing, including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling and punctuation. · Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. · Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. · Knowledge of community resources, social service systems, and relevant regulations. · Commitment to promoting the well-being and empowerment of families in the community. · Requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to work with professionals, and maintain confidentiality standards. · Requires excellent computer skills. · Creativity, initiative, independent thinking, and problem solving skills are strongly preferred. · Must have demonstrated leadership abilities. · Must have strong public speaking skills. Key Responsibilities: · Conduct assessments of families’ needs and develop individualized plans to address those needs effectively. · Provide information, referrals, and resources to families seeking assistance with various issues, including but not limited to housing, healthcare, education, and employment. · Collaborate with community organizations, agencies, and schools to enhance and expand the services offered by the Family Resource Center. · Offer counseling and/or referrals, guidance, and advocacy to families facing challenges or crises, advocating for their rights and best interests. · Organize and facilitate workshops, support groups, and educational sessions on topics relevant to families’ needs and interests. · Maintain accurate records of services provided, client progress, and outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations. · Stay informed about local resources, policies, and trends affecting families and incorporate this knowledge into service delivery and program development. · Supervise and support staff and volunteers working within the Family Resource Center, providing guidance, training, and feedback as needed. · Participate in program and evaluation and quality improvement efforts to assess the effectiveness of services and identify areas of enhancement. · Demonstrate a commitment to the achievement of excellence in early childhood education, parent involvement and training, and community networking. · Plan and develop programs that enhance positive parenting skills and networks with other community agencies to increase the number, quality, and type of parenting resources available. · Conduct home visits. · Prepare and record activities and client statistics for reporting and evaluation purposes, assist in the preparation of grant proposals and monthly and annual reports. · Actively participate in the professional growth and career development of self and Family Resource Center Staff. · Train and supervise Family Resource Center staff to provide optimal service to families utilizing the center. · Organizes the Center in a manner that will assure its accessibility to families. · Adheres to proper accounting procedures in purchasing, bookkeeping, and budgeting. · Manages the requisition, use and maintenance of the building and building items in an accountable and efficient manner. · Other duties as assigned.
