Job Description:Omitron is looking for an experienced Orbital Analyst to join our Vandenberg Operations team. We are a company rooted in ensuring mission success across flight operations, trajectory design and analysis, software tools for Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and On-Orbit Spaceflight Safety. You will work closely with OAs and Engineers to ensure successful mission operations along with developing and delivering products which enable government customer situational awareness and decision making.As a mid-level Orbital Analyst (OA), you will play a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and predicting the behavior of space objects. OAs ensure the space flight safety of our customers' satellite assets in a congested space domain. Your expertise in orbital mechanics and data evaluation will be pivotal to overall mission success. A successful mid-level OA will execute processes to coordinate and integrate relevant information and findings across multiple areas to deliver space analysis products and analytics. You will help mentor other junior orbital analysts on space analysis best practices and provide innovative solutions to the Engineering Lead on various problem sets the team comes across. Candidate will collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team of engineers, analysts, and Team Leads to support space operations and advance Omitron's position as a leader in the space industry.Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive analysis of space objects' orbital parameters, including the tracking, identification, and characterization of the Space CatalogComplex understanding of orbit determination to include tracking and predicting the orbits using mathematical models and algorithmsUnderstanding of current practices and guidelines for orbital degree mitigation, including satellite end-of-life disposal and collision risk assessmentComprehensive understanding of Space Surveillance Network sensors, networks, and data, including capabilities and limitationsStrong proficiency in applying advanced orbital mechanics to real world problemsExperience in compiling statistics based on current space object populationAbility to multi-task and be capable of applying innovative analysis in a dynamic work environment to solve customer problemsCollaborate with senior orbital analysts to track potential collision risks and other threatsBasic Qualifications:Master's degree in Astrodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field and 2 years of relevant work experience. Or, have one of the following:Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant work experienceAssociates Degree with 6 years of relevant work experience8+ years of relevant work experienceMinimum DoD secret security clearance with an ability to attain a TS/SCIStrong proficiency in a scripting language such as shell, Perl, or PythonRobust understanding of space surveillance and tracking systems, such as radar and optical sensorsKeen ability to compile and analyze statistics based on current space object populationStrong understanding of non-regular data message managementPreferred Qualifications:6+ years of experience involving space domain dataDoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security)Robust knowledge of orbital mechanicsExperience with applying Python numerical and libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciPy, etc.Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with a track record of resolving complex orbital anomaliesFamiliarity with Linux-based OS, particularly Red Hat.Proficiency in Python 3Security Clearance Requirements:Candidate must possess at least a DoD secret security clearance with an ability to attain a TS/SCIUS citizenship requiredJob Location:Vandenberg SFB, CAOccasional travel may be necessaryCompensation and Benefits:The initial salary range for this role is $115,000 to $150,000,depending on education level, relevant experience, and other factors.Benefits include:Health, Dental and Vision InsuranceHSA or FSA accountsCompany paid ST/LT Disability and AD&D insurancePaid Federal HolidaysPaid Vacation Leave and Sick Leave401k with company matchSupplemental Insurance options like AFLACEducation AssistanceVoluntary Life InsuranceCompany OverviewWelcome to Omitron!
