OVERVIEW JOB TITLE: LifeguardLOCATION: St. Paul CampusPAY RATE: 16.50 Job Summary The Anderson Recreation Center is looking for certified lifeguards to ensure the safety of all pool patrons and maintain a welcoming aquatic environment. Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring pool activities, preventing accidents, and responding to emergencies in accordance with American Red Cross standards. Responsibilities Maintain constant surveillance of pool patrons and intervene promptly to prevent accidents or injuries Enforce all aquatic facility rules and policies in a firm, courteous manner Respond to aquatic emergencies, administer first aid, and perform CPR/AED as needed Conduct opening and closing procedures for the facility Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck, locker rooms, and surrounding areas Attend mandatory in-service trainings and staff meetings Complete incident and accident reports accurately and in a timely manner QUALIFICATIONS Required Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification Ability to pass a swim skills test prior to hiring Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods Preferred Previous lifeguarding experience in a pool setting Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand on the pool deck for up to 20 min at a time Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Must be able to enter the water quickly in an emergency situation Comfortable working in a warm, humid environment ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
