Under general direction, this role involves observing and practicing sterile techniques, maintaining asepsis, and assisting the surgeon as needed. The ideal candidate will actively participate in patient care and safety while effectively utilizing OR supplies and collaborating with the OR staff. Responsibilities Follow Infection Control policies and demonstrate expertise in surgical scrub technique. Adhere to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively. Assist the surgeon by gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments during procedures. Maintain an organized operative field, keeping instruments clean and in their proper place. Accurately track sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument counts. Prepare for surgeries by assembling supplies and equipment in accordance with preference cards. Provide a safe surgical environment by identifying potential hazards. Utilize experienced OR staff as a resource and assist new OR personnel. Expedite the effective turnover of the OR between cases. Take rotating call duty as required. Schedule This is a rotating evening shift position. The work schedule may involve either 5, 8-hour shifts or 4, 10-hour shifts, ending daily at 11:30 PM. On-call is required for one weekend every 3 to 4 weeks, along with 1 to 2 night call shifts per week. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure High School diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA. BLS Certification from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross. Previous Operating Room and Surgical Technologist experience preferred.
