Maintenance Engineer

Job Description The Maintenance Engineer at Hotel Hartness is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and aesthetically excellent operation of all hotel facilities. This role supports guest satisfaction by maintaining guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and grounds to the highest standards, consistent with a luxury hospitality experience.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine maintenance and repairs on guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, spa, and back-of-house facilitiesTroubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systemsConduct preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifeRespond promptly to maintenance requests and guest service issuesMaintain the hotel's appearance, ensuring all spaces meet brand and quality standardsCoordinate with outside vendors and contractors as neededPerform basic carpentry, painting, drywall, tile, and minor construction workAssist with pool, spa, and life-safety system maintenance (as applicable)Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work ordersFollow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and local/state regulationsSupport emergency response procedures and on-call responsibilities as scheduledQualifications & SkillsMinimum 2-5 years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in hospitality or a similar environmentStrong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systemsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematicsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent time management and communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamGuest-focused mindset with a professional and courteous demeanorPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spacesAvailability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shiftsPreferred Certifications (Not Required)HVAC certificationPool Operator Certification (CPO)Electrical or trade certifications
