Elemental Analysis Technician

Job DescriptionThe elemental analysis technician position uses combustion analyzers to determine the total nitrogen and carbon in animal feed, fertilizers, compost, soil, and other agricultural products. The analyses are used to help balance animal feed rations, direct fertilizer application rates, monitor carbon in the environment, and protect the environment.Elemental analysis is an important assay that is needed on samples of all types, so the technician in this position works with both our animal nutrition and agronomy teams. The technician in this position is responsible for managing the workload and maintaining the instrumentation. Current instruments include a Leco Tru-Mac and multiple Elementar Rapid N-cubes. Experience with these specific instruments is not necessary, as training will be provided.Being a lab that serves the agricultural industry, the workload tends to vary with the seasons. The workday for this position begins at 8:00 am and lasts until 4:30 pm or until the work for the day is completed, whichever is first. On days with lighter workloads, the elemental analysis technician is expected to check with teammates and offer assistance with their assays.
