In this strategic leadership role, you will own the technology strategy, architecture, execution, and delivery of SPAN’s software products and platforms.You will drive the development of scalable, secure, high-quality systems that support our business objectives while partnering closely with product, operations, and executive leadership. LeadershipDefine and execute the engineering strategy aligned with SPAN’s business goals, product roadmap, and technology vision.Translate long-term business objectives into actionable engineering priorities and deliverables.Organization BuildingRecruit, develop, and mentor high-performing engineering teams, including managers, leads, and senior engineers.Create clear career paths, foster talent development, and build a collaborative, high-trust culture.Delivery & ExecutionOversee planning, prioritization, and delivery of all software projects.Ensure projects meet objectives for quality, scalability, reliability, and performance.Champion modern development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.Technical Architecture & StandardsCollaborate with product, architecture, and operations leaders to define and implement scalable technology solutions.Drive standardization in architecture, coding practices, APIs, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.Ensure security, compliance, and maintainability across all systems.Stakeholder ManagementPartner with business, product, operations, and compliance teams to ensure engineering alignment with company strategy.Communicate effectively with executive stakeholders and represent engineering in leadership discussions.Manage relationships with vendors and technology partners.Risk, Quality & ComplianceOversee engineering governance, code quality, testing frameworks, release management, and operational reliability.Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.Implement incident response and monitoring systems to minimize downtime and risk.Continuous Improvement & InnovationFoster a culture of learning, experimentation, and technical excellence.Identify and implement new technologies that improve performance, scalability, and delivery velocity.Drive metrics-based accountability using engineering KPIs and performance data.Budgeting & Resource PlanningManage engineering budgets, headcount plans, tooling, and infrastructure investments.Optimize resource allocation across teams and initiatives.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).15+ years of progressive software engineering experience.5–10 years of senior engineering leadership experience (Director, VP, or similar).Proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale systems across web, API, and cloud environments.Experience leading distributed and hybrid teams across geographies.Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps principles.Technical ExpertiseCloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including serverless and containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes).Modern software stacks: .NET, Node.js, Python, C#, SQL/NoSQL databases.Front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and observability tools.Familiarity with security, compliance, and data privacy standards in regulated industries.Leadership CompetenciesStrategic mindset with strong business acumen—able to align engineering outcomes with company objectives.Excellent communication and influencing skills across technical and executive audiences.Proven ability to drive organizational change, culture transformation, and process
