Associate Service Technician

Key Accountabilities: Assist in the service, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of engines, propulsion systems and their electronic systems on marine defense vesselsPlan, prepare and request all parts and tools to perform job functionsWrite thorough, detailed reports at job completion and maintain detailed records of daily activitiesMaintain mtu engine, vessel and equipment logsCommission and operate engines and propulsion systemsProvide instruction assistance and demonstrate maintenance, safe operation and shutdown of mtu equipment to customerInstrument propulsion systems and record test dataInspect parts to assure conformance to specificationWork with product groups on product design development and quality improvementsProvide input for updates of service manuals and bulletinsProvide technical assistance to other service personnel and remain technically currentBasic Requirements:Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this timeTwo years in a mechanical trade school or Associate's Degree in Engineering Science or Mechanical Technology; or two years of field service, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experienceUS Citizenship is required to work on government contractsAbility to travel on short notice, domestic and international (70-100%)Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb rangePreferred Qualifications: Good knowledge of the principles of internal combustion enginesGood knowledge of the operation and troubleshooting of engines, instrumentation and electronic engine controlsGood ability to use mechanical, electrical, measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systemsGood ability to operate machine shop equipment used for cleaning, testing or fabricating parts and equipmentGood knowledge of technical language and engineering terminologyExperience with MTU engines and electronicsExperience with testing of diesel engine componentsExperience with operating forklift trucksExperience with rigging of weights up to 1 tonExperience with report and service letter writingRolls-Royce is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
