Mechanical EngineerMechanical Engineer Tire & Rubber ManufacturingPosition OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support R&D, production, and quality initiatives within our tire and rubber manufacturing facility. The role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality and accuracy, supporting audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and efficiency in factory operations. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in rubber materials and tire manufacturing, strong problem-solving skills, and familiarity with AS400 and production systems.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support R&D and product development projects related to tires and rubber components, including prototype testing and design validation.Develop, optimize, and document manufacturing and processing methods to improve yield, consistency, and accuracy in production.Collaborate with Quality Engineering to implement and maintain quality control plans, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions from audit findings.Plan and participate in internal and external audits, prepare audit documentation, and ensure compliance with industry and company standards.Provide technical support to production and factory teams, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and implement effective process controls.Work with production planning and operations teams using AS400 and other production systems to monitor capacity, scheduling, and job tracking.Design and oversee experiments and test protocols for material characterization, durability testing, and process development.Train operators and technicians on best practices, standard work, and safety requirements to maintain consistent manufacturing performance.Generate clear technical reports, engineering drawings, and work instructions to support continuous improvement and knowledge transfer.Apply lean manufacturing principles and lead small improvement projects to reduce waste, cycle time, and cost while maintaining product integrity.QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.3+ years of experience in rubber, tire, or related polymer manufacturing, preferably with hands-on R&D and production exposure.Demonstrated experience with quality systems, audits, and corrective action processes in a manufacturing environment.Familiarity with production and factory systems; working knowledge of AS400 or similar ERP/MRP systems is highly desirable.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material processing for rubber, and tire construction/testing methodologies.Proven ability to analyze data, perform root-cause investigations, and implement durable engineering solutions with attention to accuracy.Experience working cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and quality teams in a factory setting.Excellent communication skills, technical documentation experience, and the ability to train and mentor shop-floor personnel.Proficiency in CAD tools and standard engineering software; experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools preferred.Safety-conscious mindset and ability to work in a manufacturing/factory environment with occasional hands-on tasks.BenefitsUnion Pension Plan (per collective bargaining agreement)401(k)Medical InsuranceFlexible Spending Account (FSA)Health Savings Account (HSA)Prescription CoverageDental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsuranceSpousal Life InsuranceChild Life InsuranceShortTerm DisabilityLongTerm DisabilityARAG Legal InsuranceNorton LifeLockWishbone Pet InsuranceVoya Benefits: Whole Life Insurance Group Accident Insurance Group Critical Illness Insurance Hospital IndemnityPaid Vacation- Per the CBA10 Paid Holidays- Per the CBA - For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
