Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - CNC - Springfield, MA

Reporting into the Mechanical Design Manager, the Senior Mechanical Design engineer will sit on a small team in my client's R&D group. This individual will spend the majority of their time working independently with mechanical components and mechanisms with machinery. Client DetailsBased out of the Springfield, MA area, my client is a leader in the machine tool industry. They are a subsidiary of a large global company and have roughly 130 employees. They have 2 large product lines that are manufactured at this site and distributed globally. DescriptionThe main responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer include, but are not limited to: Develop and enhance automated machine accessories.Manage all mechanical aspects of projects from concept to implementation.Generate and present conceptual designs to meet customer needs.Ensure designs meet functional requirements and are suitable for their purpose.Design mechanical components and mechanisms.Produce construction documents for designed components.Select appropriate off-the-shelf items such as pneumatic actuators, valves/manifolds, sensors, electric actuators, motors, and reducers.Coordinate with vendors and fabricators for parts procurement.
