Learn more about this exciting role below:GENERAL POSITION SUMMARYThe Primary Guide helps direct students' activities academically, spiritually, emotionally, and physically in a prepared Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach his or her fullest potential in these developmental areas.JOB SCOPEThis position works closely with the Director of Primary to ensure the program runs according to Montessori standards and expectations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSImplements all curricula in the classroomKeeps records of parent communications and reports same to DirectorMaintains updated records of each child's progressResponsible for care and maintenance of the classroom, including materials, maintaining an orderly environment, and keeping it clean and in good conditionSupervises and works cooperatively with classroom assistantPrepares and submits required reports, including conference reportsConference reports must be submitted to Director prior to parent conferenceConducts conferences with parentsParticipates in a regular evaluation process including classroom observations, self-evaluation, and annual goal settingCommunicates with parents, administrators, and student support staff concerning the emotional and physical well-being of studentsReports any and all accidents/incidents at once. Completes Incident Report and delivers copies of same to parent and Health OfficeHelps to supervise children in the execution of all emergency drillsWorks to implement the guidelines for behavior in the classroom and foster each child's social and academic growthShare with the Primary Assistant any observations of student behaviorMeets with the Primary Assistant to explain about the classroom duties and responsibilities towards the beginning of the academic yearParticipates in weekly meetings with the Primary Assistant to discuss the individual needs of the students and classroom environment in generalAttends and actively participates in Primary team meetings, and other meetings as assignedCommits to professional development and best practices in Montessori educationComplies with the content of the Employee Handbook for all duties not listedAdheres to the behaviors described in the Alcuin Standards of Faculty ExcellenceGreets student in morning carpool, ensuring their safety as they exit their vehicleSupervises students during lunch prep, lunch, and recessAttends school, community, and/or parent education events as detailed in the Employee Handbook or as assigned by Director of PrimaryMARGINAL FUNCTIONSSubstitutes in other classrooms as neededOther duties as assigned by the Director of Primary and/or Head of SchoolKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSRequired:Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.Must pass Criminal Background Checks and Drug TestingAMI 3-6 DiplomaBachelor's DegreeCPR trainingAbility to interact and communicate appropriately and professionally with parents, students, and colleagues, both written and verbalAbility to interact and communicate professionally with colleagues, students, parents, and others in the school community and during off-campus school related activitiesAbility to function as a team with colleagues and Director of Primary, and with other administrators as requiredWilling to take Montessori Training, if recommendedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYNonePAY RANGEPay is based on experience and is competitive with Independent Schools in the Dallas, Texas, area.BENEFITSFull time faculty and staff at School are provided with the following benefits:High deductible Health Plan (HDHP)Health Savings Account (HSA)AlightEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Voluntary Dental PlanVision PlanBasic Life/AD&D PlanLong Term Disability (LTD) Plan403b PlanLong Term Care (LTC) PlanAflacLegal ShieldWORK SCHEDULESchedule: Generally, Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 4:00 pm.
