The successful candidate will be tasked with modernizing existing tools, designing and building a greenfield, AWS-native microservices stack, and setting engineering standards for the broader team. Key responsibilities include leading all aspects of application development, owning and modernizing legacy applications, and partnering closely with the CTO and Head of Data to align architecture with business and data strategies. The role demands a leader who can stay deeply involved in the technical aspects, from coding to architectural decisions, and who is adept at building and mentoring high-performing development teams.Applicants for the Head of Development position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' of hands-on engineering experience, with a recent focus on production systems. A background in risk technology, particularly in areas such as exposure management, scenario analysis, and limits, is essential. The role requires deep expertise in Python and microservices architecture, as well as a proven track record in building and deploying AWS-native systems. Strong architectural thinking, experience in leading small, high-impact teams, and a player-coach mentality are also key qualifications. The ideal candidate will have high coding standards, fluency in CI/CD, testing frameworks, and monitoring tools, and strong communication skills to engage with business and investment stakeholders.
