The Systems Administrator - Software Defined Networking will support the design, implementation, administration, and sustainment of software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities across the Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN). This role ensures secure, resilient, and compliant network operations aligned with DoD cybersecurity and enterprise architecture standards. This position directly supports mission readiness by ensuring software-defined capabilities across the DoDIN are secure, resilient, and operationally effective - where delivery excellence translates into real-world mission advantage. Please note: This opening is contingent upon contract award (expected award & start date is June/July 2026). ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Systems Administration & Operations Administer and maintain SDN-enabled infrastructure across DoDIN enclavesSupport installation, configuration, and sustainment of network devices (virtual and physical)Manage system baselines, patching, and configuration control in accordance with DoD standardsPerform system monitoring, performance tuning, and fault resolution Software Defined Networking (SDN)Support deployment and operations of SDN technologies (e.g., Cisco SD-WAN, SDA, or similar platforms)Maintain SDN controllers, orchestration tools, and policy frameworksAssist with network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and policy-based routingSupport automation efforts using tools such as Ansible, APIs, or scripting Cybersecurity & ComplianceEnsure compliance with RMF (Risk Management Framework), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIGs and DoD cybersecurity policies and directivesConduct vulnerability remediation and security hardeningSupport ATO sustainment activities and audit readiness DoDIN Operations IntegrationSupport integration with DoDIN enterprise services and transport layersCoordinate with Network Operations Centers (NOCs) and Security Operations Centers (SOCs)Troubleshoot issues impacting operational availability across DoDIN Documentation & ReportingMaintain system documentation, SOPs, and configuration artifactsProvide inputs to weekly/monthly status reports and incident reportsSupport change management boards (CCB) and configuration control processes REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor Degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)3–7 years of experience in systems administration (Windows/Linux) and network administration in enterprise or DoD environmentsHands-on experience with SDN technologies (Cisco SD-WAN, VMware NSX, etc.), Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, or Ansible)Experience operating within DoDIN or similar federal networksFamiliarity with RMF processes, STIG implementation and Patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM)Strong troubleshooting and analytical skillsAbility to operate in mission-critical environmentsEffective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholdersDiscipline in configuration management and documentationTeam-oriented with ability to support cross-functional engineering effortsActive Secret clearance, TS/SCI preferred CERTIFICATIONS: DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II (minimum): CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) Preferred: Cisco CCNA / CCNP (Enterprise or Security)VMware VCPRed Hat RHCSA/RHCE PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience supporting SD-WAN deployments in DoD environmentsFamiliarity with Zero Trust architectures and identity services (e.g., Cisco ISE)Experience with automation pipelines and CI/CD for network configurationsExposure to cloud-integrated DoD environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) LOCATIONS AND TRAVEL: Hybrid schedule: Must reside in DC metropolitan area or be willing to travel regularly to CyKor’s HQ in Annapolis, MD and to various cutter locations for deployment project support WHAT WE OFFER: Competitive salary and benefits packages.Opportunity to work with a dynamic and talented team.Career growth and professional development opportunities.A positive and inclusive work environment.Chance to make a significant impact on the company’s success.
