Job Title: Local Contract - Licensed Practical Nurse - Med/Surg Number of positions: 1 Years of experience: One to three years Shift: Night shifts- 36 hours Duration: 13 weeks Start Date: 04/07/2024 Hourly pay: $32.76 OT : 1.5 Weekly Pay : $1,179.36 JOB DESCRIPTION Summary Department: Medical Shift Timings: 7:00-19:00 Monday to Friday (3 Days/12 Hours) Per Week : 36 Hours The Licensed Practical Nurse provides patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards. Roles & Responsibilities Assists in assessing and evaluating the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and educational needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes. Assists in the development and implementation of the plan of care including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family based in the teaching plan developed by the registered nurse. Adapts positively to the ever-changing health care environment by supporting technology and process changes. Willing to learn new things, is open to change and maintain a calm, positive manner under stressful conditions. Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to registered nurse and to multidisciplinary caregivers. Attends and participates in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services and educational opportunities. Department meeting attendance requirement: 80% with 50% in person if department meetings are available by webinar. Serves as a steward for the hospital's human and material resources. Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies in department. Supports staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours. Serves and supports process improvement teams, which influence customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes and financial stability. Documents patient information in the electronic/paper medical record in an accurate, timely manner. Delegates and receives delegation appropriately based on patient needs and the scope of practice. Recognizes personal learning and development needs. Participates in developing their yearly performance goals. Creates a plan for professional/personal growth. Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPAA regulations. Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments. Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs. Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of the medical center reflecting the organization's Mission, Values, and Cultural Beliefs. Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment. Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head. Minimum Qualifications Current LPN licensure in the state of Iowa or qualified multistate licensure required. IV Certification required or required to begin class within 2 years. Previous acute care experience is preferred. Special Skills and Competencies: Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs. Self-motivated, detail oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision. Completes the following mandatory courses (check all that apply): QUALIFICATIONS BLS, PALS, and ACLS National Institutes of Health (NIH) Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. The ability to stand for extended periods. Strong technical skills. Knowledge of medical terminology Passionate about patient care Requires a minimum of two years of current RN Behavioral Health experience. Graduate from a fully accredited RN program Active unencumbered RN Connecticut state license One year of Cerner experience Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Completes MANDT Training within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Completes Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Requirements • COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills. Participates in relevant continuing education programs. Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients. Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise. A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital. Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
