PC Application Developer

Founded in Oregon, SawStop is part of the TTS Group, a 2,500+ employee family-owned company based in Germany with a focus on long-term growth.Primary FunctionAs a member of the Electrical and Software Team, the team member is primarily responsible for designing and implementing PC-based applications to be used by service, manufacturing, and engineering personnel.These applications need to communicate with hardware via serial connections, download data, save it in databases, and provide a consistent and useful graphical user interface to technical but non-engineering personnel to use for driving manufacturing processes or troubleshooting problems in the field.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe PC Application Developer will develop GUI-based applications in Python using the Qt5 framework. The candidate will gather and document requirements, develop the corresponding software and database architecture, and then write and maintain the software.The candidate must be able to work with members of the software team and internal customers to ensure that the application is consistent with SawStop's quality goals and current coding practices.Required QualificationsMust be authorized to work in the United States at time of hiring.Must be ready to work on site 2-3 days a week, or full time as required by the work.BS degree in computer science, ECS, or equivalent experience.5+ years writing PC-based user applications in Python.Familiarity with using Qt in a Python environment.Experience with Git.Strong problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsAbility to interface with serial ports and implement serial communications protocols.Ability to write simple applications for Arduino-style processors.Experience writing code for embedded processors.Familiar with operating woodworking .Company ProfileSawStop is the world leader in power tool safety.Headquartered in Tualatin, Oregon we design, engineer, and manufacture innovative power tools and accessories for the commercial and hobbyist woodworking markets.
