BGC opened our Nashville office in 2023 to support existing clients in the pipeline sector – the Nashville office has developed into a hub for our eastern US staff and we have expanded our Nashville-based support to clients and projects in the energy, transportation, and communities sectors. In addition to strengthening BGC’s support for clients in the eastern US, the Nashville office location provides an opportunity to work on some of the most complex applied earth sciences challenges worldwide. BGC is looking to add a Senior Geological/Geotechnical Engineer or Geoscientist to the Nashville office. The ideal candidate will be an expert in one of more of the disciplines in which BGC provides consulting services: engineering geology, geohazards, groundwater, rock mechanics, soil mechanics, or surface water. The successful candidate will work closely with other engineers and geoscientists, help to mentor junior staff, provide technical review, and engage with clients. BGC operates as One Team with a focus on connection between people, sectors, technical disciplines, and offices across the globe to provide clients with innovative, common-sense solutions partnered with quality service. In addition to Eastern US projects, the successful candidate will work with our global team to help develop our client-base in line with BGC’s strategic direction. In this role the successful candidate will provide technical leadership, excellent client service, and advancement of innovative practices while practicing our core values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity.This position is located in Nashville, TN. Regular travel to other BGC offices and project locations will be required.ResponsibilitiesAct as a project engineer or geoscientist and technical lead for specific aspects of pipeline and/or transportation projectsManage projects, including proposals, budgets, schedules, staffing, and scopeManage multi-disciplinary project teams, potentially working in remote and challenging environmentsTravel as required, which could occasionally include extended shifts at remote sitesOrganize and supervise field programs, including: geohazard site investigation, geohazard mitigation design and construction monitoringAuthor or co-author reportsTrain, mentor, and supervise technical work of junior staffWork with client and partner representativesContribute to recruiting efforts for junior and intermediate staffTravel to other BGC offices on occasion to foster team connectivity and participate in business development and planning initiativesParticipate in business development, including identifying new opportunities, promoting BGC’s capacity for undertaking innovative and advanced projects, and writing proposalsHelp promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staffRequired Education, Experience & Competencies10 to 20 years of relevant professional engineering or geoscience experience, including in engineering consulting. Applicants with fewer or more years of experience than this may also be considered at a seniority level commensurate with their experiencePost-graduate degree in the candidate’s relevant field (e.g. Geology or Geological / Geotechnical / Civil Engineering)Registered as a professional engineer (PE) or professional geologist (PG)Technical expertise and project management experience in pipeline and/or transportation sectorsExceptional communication skills in English, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPosition RequirementsDrug & Alcohol TestingTo ensure we meet our client’s compliance requirements and our workplace health and safety commitments, BGC has a drug and alcohol policy that applies to this position.
