EH&S Coordinator
Summary: This role primarily supports the facility's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department by promoting awareness focused on incident prevention and environmental protection. It involves identifying and evaluating hazards at work, as well as suggesting corrective actions. The position requires engaging and collaborating with facility staff to ensure adherence to regulations such as OSHA and EPA, and applying best practices. Additionally, it includes managing internal EHS systems and completing necessary reports and notifications through active participation in the production environment while achieving short-term and long-term objectives set out for the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Environmental: Compiles and maintains records and data in accordance with the reporting requirements of governmental agencies. Implements ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, water consumption, and energy use.
Process Management: Facilitate the implementation of the safety management system process to enhance safety and environmental performance. Support the development and execution of cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitoring: Monitor operational processes and employee activities.
Training: Provide comprehensive training to employees concerning the relevant regulatory standards applicable to the facility. Confirm the completion of ISO 14001 and other pertinent regulatory training courses.
Risk Assessment: Ensure that all job functions undergo comprehensive risk assessments employing Safety Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (SFMEA). Implement suitable measures to mitigate risks, including engineering controls whenever feasible. Confirm that all essential personal protective equipment has been identified and is utilized as mandated.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all EHS-related laws and regulations. Maintain injury records and post safety-related information as required. Maintain written programs to ensure they are up to date. Complete all safety and environmental-related testing as needed. Inspect property, equipment, and work practices for compliance with regulatory standards through internal auditing.
Communication: Assist in the completion of internal incident notifications following company policy. Ensure all hazardous areas and conditions are identified and communicated to employees using appropriate visual and audio techniques. Interface with external regulatory contacts (Federal, State, and Local) as necessary. Communicates constantly, consistently, concisely, and with clarity at all levels of the organization.
Vendor/Visitor Management: Assist in managing the contractor program to verify all requirements are fulfilled prior to starting work.
Incident Investigation: Engage in the incident investigation to determine root causes, make sure findings are well documented, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (3+ Years)
o In a manufacturing environment, preferred
Continuing education required (ISO Training, On-The-Job Training, Regulatory Training)
Language Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, and apply OSHA standards, EPA regulations, ISO procedures, SDS documents, and company safety policies.
Strong written communication skills for preparing reports, training materials, and incident investigations.
Ability to effectively present information to groups and communicate across all levels of the organization
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate exposure results, air sampling data, environmental emissions, waste metrics, and performance ratios
Proficiency with basic algebraic calculations, unit conversions, percentage reductions, and data trending.
Ability to interpret charts, graphs, and EHS-related KPIs
Reasoning Ability:
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify hazards, analyze root causes, and develop corrective actions
Ability to make sound judgments in emergency or high-pressure situations
Capability to interpret regulatory requirements and apply them to complex workplace conditions
Ability to prioritize tasks based on risk and business impact
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Ability to use EHS management systems, learning management systems (LMS), and digital auditing tools
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
ISO 14001 Internal Auditor (required or obtained within 12 months)
OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
CPR/First Aid/AED First Responder
HAZWOPER 24-hour or 40-hour (preferred but not required)
Other Skills and Abilities:
Knowledgeable of environmental, health, and safety compliance
Exhibit strong leadership skills
Must possess strong organization and record-keeping skills
Environmental, Social, and Governance knowledge a plus
Experience managing and improving an ISO 14001 certified environment
Must be able to communicate with all levels of plant personnel effectively
Able to present material to groups
Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Knowledgeable in machine safety concepts and implementation

Physical Demands:
Perform activities such as standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching during shifts
Use carts, dollies, cranes, and jacks to transport materials as needed
Must be capable of regularly lifting and moving objects weighing up to 40lbs
Climbing ladders and stairs to access work at heights of 30 feet or more
Navigate tight walkways, restricted spaces, and overhead mezzanines
Withstand potentially extreme temperature fluctuations caused by weather and machinery
Adapt to high noise and vibration environments in the workplace
Wear and strictly adhere to all PPE guidelines, including hard hats, protective eyewear, earplugs, and approved footwear equipped with metatarsal and steel-toe safeguards
Work Environment: The EHS Coordinator interacts with historic machinery throughout the facility, often in the vicinity of heat, noise, debris, conveyance systems, and other potentially hazardous equipment. They also navigate areas characterized by high foot and overhead traffic from material transport, which may generate vibrations and airborne debris. Furthermore, certain walkways are either paved or unpaved, with active shipping lanes and sporadic standing water that necessitate careful attention.
