About The Role:
We are seeking a motivated Jr. Python Software Engineer - Backend to join our technical team. This role involves working closely with developers, data analysts, and underwriters to enhance our automated underwriting systems using real-time data. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal services that facilitate credit risk assessments, integrating data from various sources via APIs, and supporting the deployment of proprietary solutions. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced fintech environment, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation in credit underwriting processes. While this is a fully remote position, the candidate must be available to work from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a Graduate degree is a plus 1-2 years of relevant professional experience in software development
- Proficiency in Python programming language
- Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server or Postgres
- Strong understanding of API development and integration, preferably with Python/Flask
- Knowledge of AI code assistants like Claude Code or Codex is advantageous
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly GitExperience with REST/SOAP API consumption and integration
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles
- Proficiency in English (C1 level or higher)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain internal services to support card application processing and underwriting workflows
- Create new services to gather and process data from external vendors and public APIsIntegrate research findings from the data team into existing production processes
- Research and evaluate new technologies for implementation within the current codebase
- Implement enhancements and resolve issues identified by front-end and underwriting teams
- Write ad-hoc scripts for bulk processing of historical data
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements
- Perform additional tasks related to software development and data processing as needed
