We are on the hunt for an experienced Mechanic at our Sylacauga, AL terminal.The Mechanic is responsible for repairs and the maintenance of Class-8 diesel powered tractors and tank trailers, both internal and external customers, as well as ensuring the road worthiness of company equipment.We operate late model tractors and trailers!Up to $30/hour based on experience1st Shift: 7:30AM - 2:30PM$1.00/hour 2nd Shift Differential - 2PM - 10:30PMThe ideal candidate will have:Maintenance background in the trucking industry.Experience with Kenworth tractors.Experience with Cummins engines.Responsibilities:Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers while utilizing personal safety equipment as requiredMove trucks and trailers in and out of shop for maintenanceOpen repair orders and charge the appropriate parts to the repair orderPerform tire inspections/appropriate paperwork to company standardsPerform shop clean-up and housekeeping responsibilities as well as other miscellaneous related duties as assignedInspects and maintains basic vehicle/accessorial worthiness including proper fuel levels and tire air pressure, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety equipment and submits reports indicating condition of equipmentComprehend and perform Driver Vehicle Inspection Repair (DVIR) processInstall, diagnose and repair Geotab telematic devicesPerform trailer prepsTrailer and hose inspections per HM-183 standardsPerform work on frame rail and sub framePossesses and demonstrates the ability to perform assigned tasks in a manner that adheres to the companies Safety, Health, Environmental and Security policiesDiagnose and repair:Tire/wheelBrakes & Air SystemsClutch, Linkage and TransmissionMud flaps/hangersAir intake systemStart, charging and electrical systemsLanding gear and attachmentsIn transit heat systemsCoolant SystemsHVAC SystemFuel SystemExhaust SystemsElectrical SystemsSteering and SuspensionBenefits:Paid vacation and holidays401k (Company % Match)Medical, Vision, Dental Insurance, Company Life Insurance PolicyWeekly pay & additional benefitsRequirements:ASE certification not required but recommendedComputer experience a plusMust provide own hand tools
