Full Stack Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend development background to design, develop, and optimize scalable, cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Node.js, AWS microservices, RESTful APIs, and modern frontend frameworks, including React and Angular. This position is approximately 70% backend development and 30% frontend development, with a primary emphasis on Node.js, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and API development. The engineer will contribute to the design and implementation of highly available applications, leveraging AWS serverless technologies, containerized microservices, and modern frontend architectures. Experience working with e-commerce platforms, transactional systems, and tax-related integrations or regulations is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities: Backend Development & Microservices (70%)Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js (primary), Java, and Spring Boot. Build and optimize microservices architectures deployed within AWS cloud environments. Develop serverless applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and other AWS services. Design and integrate applications with both SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient data management, query performance, and scalability. Implement secure API integrations between internal platforms, third-party services, and distributed applications. Optimize backend performance, system reliability, and application response times. Support high-volume transactional applications, particularly within e-commerce environments. Frontend Development (30%)Develop and maintain responsive, scalable web applications using React and Angular. Contribute to micro frontend architectures and module federation implementations. Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and microservices. Collaborate with frontend engineers to improve application performance, maintainability, and user experience. Ensure seamless communication between frontend components and distributed backend systems.

AWS Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture: Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS services, including:

• AWS Lambda and API GatewayEC2, ECS, EKS, and Fargate
• Amazon S3 and CloudFrontAWS networking and traffic management
• Implement containerized applications and support orchestration across cloud environments.
• Utilize Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to automate infrastructure provisioning.
• Design highly available, fault-tolerant systems with automated failover capabilities.
• Support CDN optimization, caching, and edge computing strategies, preferably using Fastly.
• DevOps, Security & Observability
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Harness.
• Implement automated deployment strategies, including blue-green deployments and rolling updates.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues using Dynatrace, Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch.
• Apply security best practices, including API security, WAF policies, DDoS protection, and secure content delivery.
• Automate monitoring, incident detection, and recovery processes to improve platform reliability.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Participate in architectural design discussions and technical decision-making. Mentor junior engineers and promote development best practices. Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve application performance, scalability, and engineering efficiency. Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in software engineering, full stack development, cloud engineering, or related technical roles. Strong hands-on backend development experience with Node.js, including building scalable APIs and microservices. Experience developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot. Proficiency in React and/or Angular for frontend development. Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases. Strong experience with AWS cloud services, particularly Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, ECS, EKS, and S3.Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and deploying RESTful APIs and distributed microservices. Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and DevOps practices. Knowledge of cloud security, application monitoring, and performance optimization. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience developing or supporting e-commerce platforms, particularly high-volume transactional applications. Familiarity with sales tax calculations, tax regulations, tax engines, or third-party tax integrations within e-commerce systems. Experience with Fastly CDN, AWS CloudFront, edge computing, and caching strategies. Knowledge of micro frontend architecture and module federation. Experience using Terraform for infrastructure automation. Familiarity with observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch. Experience implementing multi-region AWS architectures and automated failover. Experience with platform reliability engineering, application security, and performance optimization. Previous experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.

Ideal Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate is a senior-level, backend-focused Full Stack Engineer who is highly proficient in Node.js and AWS microservices development while remaining comfortable contributing to frontend applications using React or Angular. They should have experience building scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud applications, integrating SQL and NoSQL databases, and working within modern DevOps environments. Candidates with experience supporting e-commerce applications, particularly those involving complex transaction processing, tax calculations, or regulatory requirements, will be strongly preferred.
