Data Analyst, Clinical Eligibility (Hybrid NY)

Job Profile Summary The Operations Strategic Data Analyst supports Clinical Eligibility (CE) and Operations by analyzing operational data to improve performance, accuracy, and efficiency. The incumbent embraces complex, disparate data sets and leading technologies to design data models, craft scoring methodologies and develop algorithms that inform the leaders of our business on our performance. The Operations Strategic Data Analyst partners with cross-functional teams to deliver insights, support reporting, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. This is an individual contributor role focused on executing defined analytical workstreams.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform root cause analyses to support process improvement initiativesTranslate business questions into structured analyses and actionable insightsWrite SQL queries and develop reports to support business and operational needsDevelop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor performanceValidate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reporting outputsSummarize and present data outcomes, recommendations, and methodology to analytics leadership, department leadership, and enterprise stakeholdersLearn, adopt and leverage leading analytical tools and technologies to further the maturity of departmental analytics at-largeContribute to development of scalable and repeatable reporting solutions to reduce manual processesHold oneself accountable for the accuracy, completeness, quality, and relevance of deliverables in order to own responsibility for work product and consider these factors in the end-to-end analytical process, from data gathering to analysis to formatting and presentationEmploy best practices in documentation, coding style and comments to facilitate persistence, reusability, and scalability of your solutionsDocument and escalate data issues as appropriateExhibit collaborative attitude, willingness to work with others on data projects that included working team(s) made of cross departmental/interdisciplinary usersSupport ad hoc analyses for operations and clinical teamsAdditional duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant work experienceWorking experience exhibiting strong critical thinking and analytical skillsAdvanced MS Excel skills that include creating pivot tables, macros, utilizing v/h lookups and VBAFamiliarity with writing SQL (and/or SAS) queries for analyzing data and establishing business rules and requirementsFamiliarity with relational database structures, theories, principles, and practicesFamiliarity with data models and/or data modellingUnderstanding of the data lifecycle within the organization and its impact on the businessExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentExperience communicating effectively verbally and in writing while demonstrating good grammar, spelling, and punctuation skillsWork experience requiring meticulous attention to detailPreferred Qualifications1–2 years of experience in data analysis or related fieldDegree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Sciences, Engineering, Business Analytics, Informatics, or similar concentrationExperience working with SQL in a professional environmentExperience with Tableau or similar visualization toolsExperience working with large datasetsFamiliarity with statistical principles, such as standard deviations, normal distributions, and regressionsFamiliarity with Python and/or RFamiliarity with healthcare dataBalances working independently with an understanding of when to escalate with questions/issuesAbility to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholdersExperience in healthcare, managed care, or payer operationsFamiliarity with CMS/DOH regulatory environmentsHiring Range*:Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $68,900 - $99,620All Other Locations (within approved locations): $61,300 - $91,120As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.In addition to your salary, Healthfirst offers employees a full range of benefits such as, medical, dental and vision coverage, incentive and recognition programs, life insurance, and 401k contributions (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
